Add-ons that sell well at a boat rental

Four friends book an electric boat for two hours on Saturday afternoon and add a cooler with drinks and a SUP board. You earn more on the same boat in the same two hours. The friends arrive with nothing left to arrange.

In Let’s Book, add-ons are offered at checkout, so a customer books the extras together with the boat. These are the ones that sell well.

Skippers and guided tours

Not everyone wants to steer. Some customers have never driven a boat, and some want a drink on board. With a skipper at the wheel, they sit back. A guide also shows them the best spot for the sunset. You can price an add-on per hour, so a skipper for three hours costs three times the hourly rate. How to choose the right boats helps you decide whether to offer a skipper at all.

Water sports and safety equipment

Once they’re out, many customers want to get into the water. A SUP board rented with the boat earns money on hours you already sold. It can bring its own security deposit too, so only the customers who take one pay it. Let parents pick life jackets in children’s sizes while they book, and the right sizes are waiting at the dock.

Convenience packages

Sunscreen, towels, bottled water, a waterproof phone pouch. People forget things, especially on a hot day in July. A small package that waits on board saves them a walk back to the car, and adds a few euros to the booking.

Kids’ activities

Children get bored fast on a long trip. A fishing net, a bucket or a treasure hunt along the banks keeps them busy for an hour. It costs you little, and parents remember the afternoon their kids didn’t want to go home.

Damage cover and bad weather

Some customers worry about a scratch on the hull. Some operators let them lower the deductible for a fixed amount, sold as an add-on. Ask your insurer first what you may offer. For rain, write down in your cancellation rules what happens when the weather turns, so nobody has to discuss it on the dock.

Catering services

You can stock drinks and snacks yourself. For more, team up with a local deli or restaurant for a picnic basket or a cheese board. They prepare it, and you sell it with the booking. On the day, your staff get a list of the add-ons that were ordered, so the dock knows what to hand over. For a birthday or a company outing, a whole party package works the same way.

Where to start

Start with three add-ons you can hand over without extra work, such as a cooler with drinks, a SUP board and a convenience package. See what sells in the first month, and add from there. We’re happy to set up your add-ons with you. Read more about add-ons in Let’s Book.
