Connected fleet · optional

Keyless boat rental for self-drive fleets.

With connected fleet, each booking is linked to one boat. So your customer starts that boat with their own phone, at the hour they booked. A hardware module from Sentinel Marine or Qondor on board releases the engine, so nobody has to stand at the dock with keys.

One trip, from both sides.

Your customer books, starts and ends their Saturday trip, all on their phone. You see each step in your dashboard, with its time.

What the customer does

What you see

  1. Makes a booking

Your customer books an electric boat on your site for two o'clock on Saturday and pays right away. The booking confirmation explains how to start the boat.

The booking is on your planning

You see the day, the time and the boat model, with nothing to copy over.

  2. Gets a text with the start link

A quarter of an hour before two, the customer gets a text with a link to their booking.

The boat is picked just before departure

You can pick the boat yourself from an hour before. From a quarter of an hour before, the customer picks an available one on their phone. So a boat in for repair doesn't cost you the booking.

  3. Taps start at two o'clock

On their booking page they tap start, right in the browser, with no app to install. The hardware module releases the engine, so nobody has to come down with a key.

You see the customer has started

In the fleet view you see the boat is out, and what time you can expect it back. If the customer can't get it going, you start the boat for them from your dashboard.

  4. Pauses for lunch

They moor at a waterside café and pause the rental on the same screen, so the engine stops. After lunch they start it again themselves.

The pause is on the timeline

Every step lands on the booking's timeline, with its time. A pause doesn't move the return time.

  5. Moors and ends the trip

The customer ends the trip on their phone and the engine locks.

The trip records its own times

Departure and return fill themselves in on the booking. If the boat is late, it turns red.

  6. Gets the deposit back, if you take one

If you take a deposit, an email tells them it's on its way back, the way they paid.

You return the deposit from the booking

Do you take a security deposit? Then you give back all of it or part of it. Each amount you keep gets its own line on the booking, with a description.

What a connected fleet saves you.

You need fewer people at the dock to hand out boats and take them back. So you can sell the early and late hours too.

Fewer people for the handover

Your customer starts and stops the boat themselves. So you don't spend a Sunday evening at the dock, waiting for one handover.

No keys

Nobody hands over a key, loses one or drives back to fetch one. Your customer's phone starts the boat.

Sell the early and late hours

A trip at seven in the morning or eight at night starts without you there. Put those hours in your opening hours, and customers can book them.

Start and stop boats from one screen.

The fleet view lists every boat with its status. One look tells you which boats are out and which are late.

Remote engine start and stop

Press start next to a boat and pick the booking, or start it without a trip. On a connected boat the hardware module releases the engine too, so nobody walks out to the boat.

Overdue return alerts

A late boat turns red in the fleet view, with the delay on it. Switch on the late-return rule, and a booking whose boat came back late gets a flag. You don't get a separate message.

Evening rentals without you at the dock.

Your customer or club member starts the boat at the booked hour, even at eight on a summer evening. You don't have to be there.

The hardware module locks the engine again when the trip ends, and unlocks it when the next booking begins. So nobody takes the boat out in between.

Three hardware modules for keyless boat rental.

You get the hardware module from the partner and connect it to one boat in Let's Book. It works on any kind of boat, with an electric motor, an outboard or an inboard. Sentinel Marine and Qondor do a lot more with it in their own software.

  • Sentinel Marine

The one we recommend. After you connect it once on Sentinel's own page, the engine locks and unlocks by itself for every booking. Sentinel's own app does a lot more: it watches the battery, the bilge, shore power and the engine, and alerts you when something is off.

    Visit the Sentinel Marine website

  • Qondor

Qondor starts and stops the engine, and keeps it locked between bookings. Your customer starts the boat from their phone at the hour they booked. Qondor's own platform also shows the fleet live on a map, replays each trip and sends an alert when a boat leaves its zone.

  • SMS-Relay

SMS-Relay only starts and stops the engine, without GPS, by a text message from Let's Book. You link it to the boat with its phone number.

Connect boat by boat, at your own pace.

Customers start by phone once every boat of that model at that dock has a hardware module. Boats with and without a hardware module share one planning.

  1. One open boat crossing a turquoise bay, its white wake drawing a long line behind it, seen from above

    Fitted

    4 of 11 boats

    One hardware module per boat

Each hardware module belongs to one boat. Boats without one keep their key, as they always have.

  2. A smiling mechanic works on the propeller under the hull of a boat on land

    Boat 7

    out of service until Friday

Take a boat out of service

While a boat is in for maintenance, nobody can book it. Move it back to its dock from the day it's ready, and it opens for bookings again.

  3. A motorboat seen from above with signal marks around it and a trail behind it

    Pickups and returns

    Limited per dock

    Limit simultaneous pickups and returns

Want to limit how many boats leave or come back at once? You set it per dock, in boats or in bookings, and it counts at each pickup time and each return time.

  4. Two green open rental motorboats moored side by side at a floating dock

    Swap the boat mid-trip

A running trip moves to another boat, straight from the booking. The timeline keeps every switch, so you can read the day back later.

  5. Hands holding a phone with a booking open, at the edge of a dock

    Delivery statuses and failure alerts

Without a key handover, your customer needs the message with the start link. If it doesn't arrive, you get an alert and resend it in one click.

  6. A crew member in a bucket hat crouches by a moored boat, coiling the line

    Stop a trip by hand

Staff can end a trip from the fleet view or the booking. On a connected boat, that stops the engine too, even out on the water. So only end a trip once the boat is back.

Questions about hardware, cost and mixed fleets.

Do I have to convert the whole fleet?

No, you connect one boat at a time, so you can start with a few. Customers start by phone once every boat of that model at that dock has a hardware module. The others go out with their key, as always.

What stops somebody taking a boat without signing?

In Let's Book, the boat starts even without a signed waiver. The booking page asks your customer to sign and to share one link with the group. Anyone who arrives unsigned signs at the dock on their own phone. On the booking you see who has already signed.

What if the message with the start link never arrives?

Then Let's Book alerts you. The booking shows the delivery status of the message, and you resend it in one click.

Which hardware works with Let's Book?

Let's Book works with Sentinel Marine, Qondor and SMS-Relay. We recommend Sentinel Marine. It locks and unlocks the engine for each booking. Qondor starts and stops the engine. SMS-Relay does the same by text message.

Is the hardware included in the plan?

No, you get the hardware module per boat from the partner who makes it. As a guide, Sentinel Marine charges about $700 once for the hardware module, plus about $140 a year. Qondor leases you the hardware module for about $240 a year. The connected fleet software is in both Standard and Pro, like every other feature.

Who installs the hardware module in my boat?

Ask the partner whose hardware module you pick. Sentinel Marine has installation partners around the world. In the Netherlands, The Boat Constructors can fit the hardware module for you. We're happy to help you pick the hardware module that fits your boats.

What happens when an engine won't start?

You move the trip to another boat, straight from the booking in Let's Book. The reference and the paperwork stay the same. The trip's timeline keeps every switch, so you can read the day back later.

What if there's no signal at the dock or on the water?

The hardware modules also work over 2G and 3G, which reach almost everywhere. As far as we know, it has never been a problem for the operators who use them.

What if the customer's phone is dead?

Then you start the boat for them from the fleet view in Let's Book. It works on any phone or laptop, so nobody has to come down to the dock.
