Boat rental payments, from booking to wrap-up.

Your customer pays while booking, right there on their phone, and you see it come in. If you take a security deposit, you return it from the same booking after the trip.

Set down payments and security deposits per rental or trip.

For each rental or trip you sell, you choose full payment up front or a down payment first. So you can ask a down payment for the charter, and the full amount for the motorboat rental. The booking is confirmed once that's in.

Down payment, part of the price

Ask a percentage or a fixed amount up front, so a January booking for August pays only part now. If you take a security deposit, you choose whether it comes with the down payment or with the rest.

Nobody books the boat twice

While the customer pays, a draft booking holds the slot for fifteen minutes, or as long as you set. If the payment never comes, the slot is free again.

A security deposit that fits the booking

The deposit is a fixed amount, a formula or a table, using hours, days, passengers or the rental price. So a week on a cruiser asks more than two hours in a small motorboat. With conditions, a club member pays no deposit and a guest does.

The deposit line customers read

On the booking form the deposit has its own line. There you say, in your own words, when the customer gets it back.

Security deposit refunds from the booking.

Take a security deposit? Then you return all of it or part from the booking. The money goes back the way your customer paid, and they get an email automatically. At the end of the day, you return every deposit that is ready in one go.

Keep part for damage, with tax

Anything you withhold goes on a cost line with its own tax rate. The deposit pays for the scratch, and the rest goes back.

Return the rest later

Need until Tuesday to assess the damage? Then you return the rest once you know the amount.

Settle a balance from the deposit

You see on screen what the deposit covers and what's still open. If it covers the extra hour and the fuel, you settle the booking in one go.

Return deposits in bulk

Select the bookings whose deposit should go back, or all of them. Before the money leaves, you see the count and the total.

Refunds by role

You decide which roles can give refunds. So a dock hand can take cash without being able to refund anything.

Card reader payments at the dock.

You make a booking at the counter, pick your card reader, and your customer taps their card. A family that walks up on a sunny afternoon can head out for two hours right away.

A balance or a cooler added at the last minute works the same way. The amount is already filled in, so there's nothing to type.

Paid at the dock

Collect a balance by card, link or reader.

When something is still open, your customer pays with the card on file, a payment link or the card reader. You pick what fits: a link for someone still at home, the reader for someone already on the dock.

    Charge the card on file

If your customer has a saved payment method, one confirmation settles the balance. You turn this on yourself.

    Send a payment link

Send the link by email or text, or paste it into WhatsApp yourself. You decide when it expires, and the deposit can come along.

  3. On a sunny jetty, a staff member holds out a card reader and a customer taps to pay

Take it on a card reader

You pick the reader at your desk. When your customer taps, the screen jumps to paid.

  4. A customer taps a bank card against a dock attendant's phone on a sunny pontoon, a white motorboat moored behind

Tap to Pay on your phone

With Mollie, your phone becomes the card reader. So you can take cards at a dock with no desk.

  5. A man pays a dock attendant in cash on the pontoon while his family climbs out of the boat

    Record cash and bank transfers

If someone pays cash or by bank transfer, you record it on the booking. The balance updates itself.

The money goes into your account.

Stripe and Mollie are payment providers, the companies that take the payment for you. Your customer pays through one of them, into an account in your name. They pay out to your bank on the schedule you agree with them. Which payment methods your customer sees, you switch on with your provider.

Our booking fee comes off first

On top of your fixed monthly fee, you pay a booking fee on each booking. Stripe or Mollie take it off along with their own fees, before the money reaches your bank.

What Stripe and Mollie charge

Stripe and Mollie charge their own rates and deduct them from your payouts. We earn nothing on their rates.

Pass on the booking fee

Add our booking fee to what your customer pays, on a line of its own. If they pay all of it, you only pay us the monthly fee and your text messages.

Questions about security deposits, payouts and refunds.

What are Stripe and Mollie?

They're payment providers. They take the payments on your booking form for you, by card, Apple Pay or the other methods you switch on, and pay the money out to your bank. You open an account with one of them in your company's name and connect it to Let's Book. They charge a fee per payment, and we earn nothing on it.

Should I choose Stripe or Mollie?

Both work with Let's Book, and in the Netherlands Mollie is the obvious pick. With Mollie you can also take card payments on your own phone, with Tap to Pay. Stripe shows your customer the payment methods that match the country they pay from.

Who holds my money?

You do. Your customers pay into your own Stripe or Mollie account, which pays out to your bank. Your provider takes our booking fee off each payment before it pays out.

Do I pay a booking fee on a security deposit?

No, there's no booking fee on a security deposit. Your payment provider may charge its own fee on it, even when you return it. The rate is in their terms.

Do I pay a booking fee on cash or a bank transfer?

No, a booking paid only in cash or by bank transfer, or booked without paying, carries no booking fee. If part of it goes through Stripe or Mollie, the fee is based on the whole booking, the cash part too. It comes off those payments.

Does a security deposit go back on its own?

No, and that's on purpose. The booking shows the next step, and someone with the right permission confirms the refund. A refund can't be undone, so Let's Book asks you once to confirm.

Can I keep part of a security deposit?

Yes. Anything you keep goes on a cost line with its own tax rate, and the rest goes back. You can also hold everything until the damage is assessed.

What happens to the security deposit when a booking is canceled?

The cancellation fee comes off the rental refund first. Anything still open then comes from the deposit, and the rest goes back. You see the split before you confirm.

Can I take card payments at the dock?

Yes, on a card reader from Stripe or Mollie. You order it from your provider and link it in their dashboard. A card reader from your bank won't work. With Mollie you can also use your phone.

Does it connect to my accounting?

There's no direct accounting integration. You can still export your bookings to Excel, with every amount in its own column. A webhook can also pass each confirmed booking on through Zapier or Make. A developer can use the full API.
